How 9/11 Spurred Advisors' Pro Bono Movement

Scott Kahan, the president of the New York-based firm Financial Asset Management Corporation, recalled arriving in San Diego for the Financial Planning Association's annual conference on Sept. 10, 2001. He awoke the following morning to watch in horror as the 9/11 terrorist attacks unfolded thousands of miles away.

Kahan grew up in Yonkers and went to college at Syracuse University before starting his practice in 1986, with offices in New York City and in Chappaqua, about 35 miles north of Manhattan.
